Sources and Methodology

Primary sources and methods used for Canadian car production, VIN origin, recalls, energy use, and buyer guidance.

The site uses primary sources for current manufacturing, regulatory, safety, and energy-use information wherever practical. Manufacturer announcements are treated as evidence of what the manufacturer said at a particular date—not as permanent guarantees.

Primary reference points

Method for current-production claims

  1. Find a dated manufacturer or government statement.
  2. Determine whether it describes an announcement, pilot build, launch, or regular production.
  3. Identify the model family and any stated body style or powertrain.
  4. Use cautious wording when versions may have different sourcing.
  5. Direct the reader to the VIN and certification label for the individual car.

Secondary sources

Independent reviews can provide observations about comfort, controls, road behaviour, and usability. They are not used as substitutes for official specifications or current plant information.
